Cristina Leitao

Cristina Planas Leitão, born in Porto (PT), 1983.

Started her dance studies in Ginasiano Escola de Danca in V. N. de Gaia and after initiating the Medicine University in Porto, she then decided to move to The Netherlands to study at ArtEZ – Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem, graduating in 2006, as a dancer.

From then on she is based in Amsterdam, working since 2007 with Gabriella Maiorino, dancing in the pieces CRUEL, ZOO and Kunikuli (Part II, Trilogia del Desiderio), is rehearsal director for IOVIODIO and works as assistant to Gabriella as well.

In 2008, she got a prize for her solo Skinned in Estonia, given by Wim Vandekeybus Most recently she was awarded the DanceWEB Scholarship in 2009 being mentored by Philipp Gehmacher (AT) and Christine de Smedt (BE) and soon she will be part of the new generation of flying low technique with David Zambrano.
