GABRIELLA MAIORINO/ CLANCARNAL

 

Italian Dutch based choreographer, Gabriella studied dance, philosophy and music and graduated in the Theaterschool of Amsterdam/ SNDO in 2002; since then all her creations have been produced in Holland and performed through out all Europe.

With TERRA! (2002), CRASH (2003), STAB (2004), ANARCHISTAS (2005), ZOO (2006-2008),TRILOGIA del DESIDERIO (2008-2009), IOVIODIO (2010), A DIVINE THREESOME (2011), TOUCH IT!(2011), HI BYE (from 2011 on- collaboration with Romanian choreographer Cosmin Manolescu),PSYCHE (2012), SUPERNOVA (2012), ZERO ZERO (2013) for the Rijks Museum and CONNECT THE DOTS in collaboration with the choreographer Erik Kaiel (2013), CHRIST…FUCK! (2013-2014), AURORA (2014), FM (2014), she travelled through out whole Holland and Italy and been invited in many countries as Portugal, Spain, Belgium, France, Germany, England, Poland, Norway, Brazil, Romania.

She has won the European competition “satelliti” (sosta palmizi-Junge Hunde), the first dansclick tour in Holland, the Aerowaves in London.

She has been produced by Dansmakers Amsterdam from 2005 till 2012, co-produced by Dansateliers Rotterdam and many different Dutch and International partners; she has also been part of the research centre DANSLAB Den Haag in years 2009-2011.

Her works have been  financially supported by the city of Amsterdam among other fonds.

She is often invited to teach in dance academies (ARTEZ in Arnhem, Theaterschool in Amsterdam, CODARTS in Rotterdam, HJS in Amsterdam, Fontys in Tilburg, IALS in Rome, Circle Rotterdam, MODEM in Catania, Bolzano, Puglia, Brussels, ZONA D in Bucharest, Utrecht, CID Rovereto) and many different venues and  festivals her special combination of floor work, improvisation and a very specific, carnal approach to movement.

Since April 2013 she creates her own dance company CLANCARNAL and she’s co-founder of the group AREA 59 and the dance studio SPAZIONUDO in Amsterdam.
